A great number of real estate professionals use social media as part of their marketing strategy to grow their business because they know it’s potential. They also know that in order to consistently grow their real estate business, attracting potential home buyers and sellers is essential. Social media is a phenomenal tool for doing just this. In addition, social networking platforms are making it extremely easy these days to accomplish the goals real estate agents have set for their business.
Naturally, a good first step with social media for real estate is setting up pages on social networks that fit your company’s content and audience. And with an ever increasing number of possible home buyers and sellers on Facebook, we believe that bringing your real estate activities to your business page is paramount.
Previously, we showed you how to add custom social media tabs to your Facebook page which allows your followers to see your other social platform activities directly from your Facebook business page. Today we are showing you how to set up the Social Connections Facebook app from realtor.com®. By integrating tools like these with your Facebook business page, you are essentially building a powerhouse social hub right at your Facebook guests’ fingertips!
More about the Social Connections Facebook App from Realtor.com®
The Social Connections Facebook app from realtor.com® allows you to share real-time market data for your local community, highlight your active inventory, create conversations, publish referrals, and generate leads with multiple lead capture options throughout the Social Connections Facebook App pages. This new app replaces three previously released Facebook Apps: See My Listings, Market Snapshot, and Local Real Estate and contains all of the features provided by all three of these apps, plus more.
Things You Will Need Before Getting Started
1) A realtor.com® account with a complete up-to-date realtor.com® profile and your Control Panel enabled. To enable your Control Panel, visit realtor.com/profile. If you don’t have a realtor.com® account contact realtor.com® Customer Care for help.

2) A Facebook business page. The Social Connections Facebook App can only be installed on a Facebook Page so if you haven’t already created a Facebook Page for your business, check out our post on How to Setup a Facebook Page for Your Real Estate Business
3) Your MLS ID. If you need assistance with this, call 1-800-878-4166.
4) Remove old realtor.com® apps. If you have any of the three previous realtor.com® Facebook apps: See My Listings, Market Snapshot, or Local Real Estate, it is highly recommended you remove them and begin using the Social Connections Facebook App.
Let’s get started
Step #1 Open a desktop browser and log in to your personal Facebook Account.
Step #2 In a new tab go to http://rltr.cm/socialconnect
Step #3 You should now see the Add Page Tab page below
Step #4 On the Add Page Tab page, select the Facebook business Page to which you’d like to add Social Connections Facebook App.
Note: If you have more than one business page, simply click on the Facebook Pages drop down tab and choose the page you want to install it on.
Step #5 Click the Add Page Tab
- Facebook may prompt you to grant permission for the App to interface with your page. Accept any prompts that appear to continue with the installation.
- These are the two that I suspect you will see. One for Social Connections Facebook App and one for realtor.com®
- Select your MLS Board from the list and enter your Board ID ( Use public ID ). This should be the same information you use to log in to your realtor.com® account.
- Now enter the email address at which you’d like to receive your new leads.
- Then click Continue.
Next, you will be asked to set up a Social Bios Account or to enter your existing Social Bios Account.
Note: Social Bios profiles are being upgraded to realtor.com® profiles. The link to set up your Social Bios account takes you directly to the realtor.com® profile sign-in page.
Step #8 – This next step is optional
Social Connections Facebook App offers further integrations to enhance your guest’s user experience while on your Facebook page. If you have Top Producer®, Market Snapshot® or Housing Trends eNewsletter and would like to integrate these with your Facebook Page, complete this step using the instructions below.
Integrating with Top Producer®: If you would like to integrate the app with Top Producer®, enter your Top Producer® username. Integration with Top Producer® will send new leads directly into your Top Producer® database.
Integrating with Market Snapshot®: If you would like to integrate the app with Market Snapshot®, enter your Market Snapshot® username and password. Integration will allow visitors to request a Market Snapshot from your Facebook page, and new leads will arrive in your Top Producer® database.
Integrating with Housing Trends eNewsletter: If you have a Housing Trends eNewsletter, enter your personal URL where indicated. This will allow visitors to click through to your eNewsletter directly from your Facebook page.
TIP: Might we suggest that you sign up for the Housing Trends eNewsletter since it is free and you can send it to past and future clients. If you don’t yet have a free Housing Trends eNewsletter account, you can create one here. More information about the eNewsletter service is available here.
NOTE: If you do not have any of the above business solutions, select the Skip This Step option for now. You can always add these tools at a later time.
Step #9 Click Continue or Skip this Step
Congratulations! You’ve finished installing Social Connections Facebook App from realtor.com®. Once the app is installed, you’ll see this confirmation screen.
Step #10 – Finishing Up
Click Launch The App button. Your new Social Connections Facebook app has now been added to your Facebook Business page. Note: Every time you update your realtor.com® profile, your Social Connections Facebook app will update automatically.
Your Social Connections Facebook app is accessible from your Facebook Business page by clicking the Social Connections Tab just below your cover photo.
If you don’t see the Social Connections tab, it may be hidden under the More drop down Tab. If you would like to have Social Connections as one of your 4 visible tabs, follow the instructions below:
Start by clicking the More drop down tab and choose Manage Tabs indicated by the red arrow in the image below.
Click and drag the Social Connections Tab to your desired location and release.
Click Save (bottom right of popup box). You should now see the Social Connections Tab right where you want it, front and center!

Your Social Connections Facebook App in Action
Depending on your subscribed solutions, the tabs visible in the app will vary. For example, if you do not subscribe to Market Snapshot or Showcase Listings, the three main tabs you will see are the Home Tab, the Recommendations Tab and the Are We Connected Tab.
The Home Tab displays your listings as reported from your realtor.com® profile and appears as shown in the image below.
The Recommendations tab turns your new realtor.com® profile into an online testimonial machine. Your clients recommend you on the app, and the app then shares it on your wall and your client’s walls, while also helping you grow your sphere organically by distributing the recommendation to all of your client’s friends through the Facebook news feed. All a visitor needs to do is click the Facebook Recommend button or the Google +1 button!
The Are We Connected tab allows your users to find out if they or any of their Facebook friends are connected with you.
The My Listings tab is available if you subscribe to Showcase Listings Enhancements. My Listings is a dedicated listings section within the app that displays all of your current listings alongside an interactive map. In addition, your prospects will have access to realtor.com® Buyer’s and Seller’s Guides. When they download a guide, you’ll get the lead.
The Home Value Reports tab allows your prospects to sign up for a Market Snapshot®, report for a specific property if you subscribe to this service. If none of your current listings are suitable they can then request a targeted report for a particular area of interest.
The Ask a Question tab is available if you subscribe to Top Producer®. This tab offers your prospects the opportunity to ask you a question. When they complete the form, their information flows directly into your Top Producer® account for easy follow up.
As you can see each tab encourages visitors to contact you for more information. For solutions that you do not currently subscribe to, a padlock appears on that section letting you know what features appear within the app upon integration of these solutions.
As you complete the integration of these subscribed solutions, they become available in the public view of your Social Connections tab in Facebook.
